2000

'The new designs have certainly attracted many newcomers to sailing, but most are simply too extreme. 2000 is definitely the real thing and can be enjoyed by anyone who has completed a week's sailing course.'

20002000...unique versatility. The ride is smooth; the sailing position is perfect and the confidence factor high thanks to a real 'sit in' feel. It’s like a chameleon that has different moods to suit the occasion. Her handling and performance will impress the enthusiast and tempt them onto the race track. Her versatility allows you to take it easy and load up the family and equipment for a relaxing day out. Newcomers and youngsters can be taught aboard easily and can even have different power for different days thanks to the unique reefing system and furling Jib!

2000The power source is a modern and easily handled rig. A “Combi-tec” Mylar mainsail incorporates a full length top batten and shorter battens further down the sail. Latest sail materials benefit from full length batten control but a fully battened sail is hard to de-power and presents problems ashore (can easily unbalance a boat off its trolley). The “Combi-tec” system offers the best of both worlds with the added advantage of reefing for high winds and beginners. A furling Jib is standard meaning 2000 can be transformed into a single hander in under ten seconds.

It takes little more to simultaneously launch and recover the gennaker and gennaker pole with the single line system bringing high performance sailing into play like the flick of a switch. Sail and rig controls are perfectly positioned and easy to adjust. The loads on the gennaker, so often an issue on modern boats, can easily be managed by lightweight or young sailors in heavy winds.

An exhaustive research and testing programme is a hallmark of all Dart products. The results can clearly be seen on the 2000.

  • “Combi-tec” mainsail with reefing system
  • Two forward stowage compartments
  • Gennaker chute
  • Deep cockpit means in and not on!
  • High boom
  • Body contour side deck for comfortable sailing
  • Furling Jib
  • Hull topsides deflect spray away from crew for a drier ride
  • Self draining cockpit
  • Aerofoil asymmetric rudder for easy handling and control

Launching and Recovery. It's easy. The lightweight robust launching trolley is perfectly balanced: on most slipways a young teenager can launch single-handed. What's more, the “Combi-tec” mainsail means that unlike many new generation boats, 2000 does not try and take off before you are ready.

Construction & Maintenance. 2000 is hand built in GRP Foam Sandwich.  This gives the benefits of normal fibreglass - it is easy to maintain, gives a long lasting finish, but with the added benefits of being lighter and stiffer.

2000Getting ready for action. From the moment you arrive with the 2000 in towing mode, to the moment you set sail takes 30 minutes... we’ve timed it!…If you keep your 2000 at a sailing club with the mast up you could be sailing within 10 minutes of arriving at the club. Impressive statistics and ensures that you spend all your leisure time on the water having fun.

Why 2000? Because you want a modern exciting boat that is versatile and easy to handle both on shore and afloat and that all the family will enjoy.  You will also want to become part of the established Class Association, whih organises many events throughout the season.  In addition, the 2000 benefits from a high resale value, making the cost of ownership over a few years very reasonable indeed.
