Craig Burlton, Adam Heeley and White (GBR) won the SB3 Irish Nationals held at the Royal St George Yacht Club over the weekend of the 29 to 31 August.
Burlton had been the early series leader but was overtaken on day two by the Irish team of Gareth Flangan, Tomlinson and Ferguson, and Britain's Ian Sullivan, Cunningham and Mallindi.
On the final day Burlton was a model of consistency, scoring a 5, 4, 4 and after dropping a 25th finished the series with 29 points and a hefty 17 points clear of Geoff Carveth, Gilbero and Sarah Allen in second.
Gareth Flangan finished third, Ian Sullivan fourth and David Quinn, Smyth and Malone (IRL) fifth.
Next up for the Laser SB3 sailors is the inaugural SB3 World Championships which will take place in three weeks time at the National Yacht Club. The World Championships have attracted 150 entries and it will be one of the main events on this year’s Irish sailing calendar.
