Pico

Pico'The squeals of excitement from my children were worth buying the Pico for! We've loved every minute from drifting home with the sun going down to surfing down the waves off the beach. Every Member of the family has their own special reasons for loving the Pico.'

Pico - A breakthrough for beginner and family sailing, it’s simple fun and cool.

So easy to handle - when you see beginners who have only sailed for a matter of hours sailing single-handed in a big breeze with an even bigger smile then you will know they are in a very special boat.

The Biggest small boat around - with its combination of a spacious self draining cockpit and a high boom the Pico has stacks of room aboard for children or a couple of adults.

Offering so much and asking so little in return - families are pretty demanding! Pico is built to take those demands in its stride - year in year out. The Pico is tough, requires virtually no maintenance and is ready for action in only minutes.

The Pico has serious beach cred!

"Suddenly learning to sail has got 'beach cred'! Pico looks the part and has a personality to match. Beginners will immediately feel at ease with this boat. But don't be surprised to find top sailors having fun aboard."
Ben Ainslie, 2000, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist.

The Pico has real character. The smallest member of the world's most famous sailing family is big on style and personality. From all corners of the globe the Pico is at home off the beaches of countless resorts.

Design
Jo Richards, renowned for his innovative thinking and technical expertise in new designs was our choice for the Pico.

Development
The development of the Pico was a labour of love. Our design brief was to build a roto-molded sailing dinghy that all the family could enjoy. The prototype Pico’s were exhaustively tested and refined over years. The team included: Top International sailors, complete beginners, sailing and holiday company operators, sail, spar and foil experts, all supported by our in-house team. The result was a boat that has now become a benchmark product!

Hull
Tecrothene A122 makes the Pico hull what it is! Tecrothene A122 is a new generation thermo plastic construction that provides high structural uniformity and consistency, immense stiffness and exceptional impact strength. A linear high density UV stabilised compound, moulded into a stress free homogeneous sandwich with an inner closed cell cellular structure.

  • Exceptionally strong;
  • Incorporates built-in buoyancy;
  • Superbly stiff;
  • Highly resistant to scratching and impact damage;
  • Easy to repair.

Sails
The Pico comes as standard with a Dacron mainsail and jib. The boat also benefits from the unique reef system that can be operated when afloat. The mainsail simply furls around the mast – simple as that! There are no knots to tie.

Spars
The spars fit neatly into the cockpit when not in use making for easy storing. To go sailing you simple slot the two piece mast together, feed the mast into the luff tube and clip the boom on and go.

Hardware
Fitted throughout with Holt fittings for durability.

Why Pico?
It’s simple, it’s fun, and it’s cool!
